STEM and ICT / ETIM agus TFC

At Scoil Réalt na Mara, we are committed to offering our students exciting and innovative opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and ICT (Information and Communication Technology).

Interactive Whiteboards: Each classroom is equipped with interactive whiteboards, allowing teachers to present lively, engaging lessons that captivate students' attention. These boards support a variety of learning styles, ensuring that every student can benefit from an enriched educational experience.

iPads: We have several sets of iPads available in our classrooms. Younger students engage with these devices through apps and interactive activities tailored to their age group. As students advance, their learning experiences incorporate more dynamic tools like green screens, microphones and creative apps, making education an active and collaborative process. The use of iPads has significantly enhanced our learning environment.

BeeBots: BeeBots are colorful, programmable floor robots designed for children. These user-friendly robots help teach sequencing, estimation, problem-solving, coding and visual-spatial skills. BeeBots and their corresponding mats are highly valued in our classrooms, and our students enjoy the hands-on learning experience they provide.

Coding Skills Development: In addition to BeeBots, we engage with coding skills development using Scratch, a visual programming language. Through Scratch, students learn the basics of coding in a fun and interactive manner, creating their own games, animations and stories. We have collaborated with Coding Ireland and have conducted training days to empower our educators with the tools and knowledge to effectively integrate coding into our curriculum.

Inclusion through Assistive Technology: At Scoil Réalt na Mara, we ensure that students with speech and writing difficulties can fully participate in classroom activities. We employ a range of assistive technologies, such as laptops equipped with specialized software, adaptive keyboards, touchpads and audiology equipment, to provide support for these students
