What is Nessy?
Nessy (Nessy Learning) is an online literacy programme designed to support children with reading, spelling, and related literacy skills in a fun and engaging way.
It uses short games, videos, and activities to help children practise key skills at their own pace.
Who is Nessy for?
Nessy is used with many children across the school, not just children with diagnosed learning difficulties.
Nessy can be particularly helpful for children who:

Find spelling rules difficult to remember

Need extra practice with reading and spelling

Benefit from visual, structured, and repetitive learning
How is Nessy used in school?
In school, Nessy may be used:

As part of support teaching or intervention programmes

To provide targeted literacy support

To reinforce reading and spelling skills in an engaging way
Activities are selected to match each child’s level and learning needs.
Can my child use Nessy at home?
Yes. Where a child has access to Nessy through school, they can also use it at home to reinforce learning.
Short, regular sessions (for example 10–15 minutes, a few times per week) are most effective and help build confidence over time.
How to Log In to Nessy at Home
Children who have access to Nessy through school can log in at home using the steps below.
Step 1: Go to the Nessy website

Step 2: Click “Login”
Select Log in to learn (at the top right of the screen)
Step 3: Enter the Secret Word
When prompted, enter the school Secret Word: rubyjoke
Step 4: Enter the Emoji Password
Your child will then enter their emoji password.
🔹 Alternatively, select QR Login if you have access to your child’s QR code.
Step 5: Select the Relevant Programme
Once logged in, choose the programme your child has been assigned, for example:
Your child can then begin or continue their activities.

Impoov Your Smelling
'Impoov Your Smelling' is an additional resource available through Nessy.
It can be helpful for parents and children as it:

Supports understanding of why words are spelled in certain ways

Helps parents feel more confident when supporting spelling at home

Complements the learning children are doing through Nessy activities and school-based support
